I think it’s kind of neat how Photo Booth can take a therma picture using my laptop’s iSight. Here’s a picture that I took while sitting next to the fire. Notice how one side of my faces is warmer then the other.

U r a freakin idiot, isights thermal effect works off brightness. the darker the subject the more blue they are.

No, Jack, Alex is right. I pointed my apple remote at my isight in thermal mode and clicked. The tiny infrared dot which is invisible to the naked eye appeared. It is real.

No, Jack is right. The infrared dot appears in PhotoBooth in normal mode too. And a thermal camera doesn’t record stuff like Remote Controls.

This is not thermal camera. There’s an easy test. Take shot of a cold coffee mug. Then hold it in your hand for 2 minutes, then take another picture. If the iSight camera was really detecting thermal images, you’d see an image of your hand on the mug. On the other hand…it is a cool effect.

I love macbooks and thermal camera. Thermal camera is my favorite setting on photobooth!!!!!!!!!

why is that setting even called “thermal camera” since it changes color based on lighting?

your so stupid the thermal camera is actually just a brightness sensitive camera. the darkest areas blue the brightest red. if youve ever seen an actual thermal camera used by fireman its huge, the size of a large camcorder. do you really think that they can fit tall the electronics into the tiny centimeter wide camera, with its millimeter wide visual receiver? thats what i thought.

i am sorry to bear the bad news Alex but i held my ipod up to the thermal camera and slowly made it brighter. The picture slowly got redder and redder.
