For the past couple of weeks TiVoBlog.com has been getting hammered with comment spam. Most of the comments are being caught by Akismet however, some are getting through. Here’s what I see when I go to my Akismet spam management page.
Caught Spam
Akismet has caught 11,298 spam for you since you first installed it.
You have no spam currently in the queue. Must be your lucky day.
Update: In the time it took me to write this post (probably 2 minutes) I received 10 comment spams!
Update 2: I’ve decided to take Lorelle’s advice and install Bad Behaviorr on TiVoBlog. I had installed it once before however, I uninstalled it because people were saying that they were being denied access to the site. I’m going to try it again simply because it is a pain in the a$$ to have to screw around with all this spam….. Hopefully nobody will be wrongfully denied access to the site

If you do find that people are being denied access, then check with Michael Hampton’s site for Bad Behavior as he has troubleshooting methods for dealing with this issue. I’ve never had a problem on several sites I run it on.
And thanks. I’m glad I could help.

Thanks for responding I really do appreciate it.
Question: Is it possible to put up a static page that a user will be redirected to if they were inadvertently denied access? The problem I had before was that somebody was using AOL’s browser and the only way they could let me know about the problem was to use another browser and or somebody else’s computer. It would be nice if I could some how provide a form where somebody could inform me about the problem.
BTW, thanks for developing this software (do you have a tip jar?). It really is a time saver
