I’m begining to think that geeks don’t click on Google ads. Out of the three sites that I run google ads on (tivoblog, raianofamily and this site), the site with the highest click through ratio (CTR) is my family site! Is this because geeks just don’t click on Google Ads? I know that I don’t on them ;).

I’m with you 100%. I master a variety of sites, and the smarter my material, the lower my CTR. On Tek Jansen the click throughs are below .1%, which is as low as you can measure.
It’s hard enough pandering to the intelligent crowd, but does it have to leave me broke at the same time?

Another thing I’d say is that, and this is true across the dozen or so sites I’m in charge of maintaining, the higher the instance of IE users, the higher the click-through-rate. This tells me that Firefox, Mozilla etc users are just too darn savvy to not recognize an ad.
Conversely, they do seem to be the people I most want to hang out with.
